Our Building

The Eclectic type listed building is located at the junction of 33 Mitropoleos Street and Duka Sahini in front of the Koursoum Mosque and the history of the building goes back a century as it was built in 1932 by the patriarch of the Papadina family, Nikolaos Papadina.
This building in 1989 was characterized as a listed building by the Ministry of Culture and specifically belongs to the Eclecticism movement with a console over an axial balcony supported by columns and rectangular frames of openings with a decorative key.
In the past it housed businesses and went through a period of intense abandonment and significant wear and tear both externally and internally.
In 2005 it passed to the current owner, Omiros Koliopoulos, who started an investment plan to convert the existing building into a modern and elegant boutique hotel in the heart of Kastoria city, with the main objective of enhancing the existing architecture of the building.
It was completely renovated with respect to its history and its particular decorative and architectural features. The interior consists of 10 rooms and a breakfast room. Dimitris Tsitsos was the architect behind the restoration and renovation of the building which was completed in 2006.
Dimitris Titsos (Mimis) was born and raised in Xanthi. In 1968 he moved and stayed in Austria, studied at the School of Architecture in Vienna and completed his studies in Innsbruck. He worked alongside great architects such as Prakneski and Hollein where he gained key experience. In 1981 he returned to Greece and settled in Thessaloniki. He worked non-stop all over Greece. Many of his works have been published in many architectural magazines in Greece and abroad.
He always had a passion for the restoration and reuse of old preserved buildings. He was one of the most exuberant and sought-after figures of the city of Thessaloniki for decades and built a legend around his name that will hardly be forgotten. He passed away on 3 May 2018 in a hospital in Thessaloniki during surgery at the age of 70.
